The Village of New Concord is excited to welcome our newest Village Council member, Kristi (KJ) Kearns, to our leadership team. After the resignation of former Council member, Bil Kerrigan, in 2018 the Village Council members requested letters of interest from New Concord residents and the response exceeded expectations. In total, eight highly qualified members of the community volunteered to serve the Village. After reviewing letters and interviewing select candidates Village Council determined that Ms. Kearns was the candidate best suited for the role.
Ms. Kearns resides on Montgomery Boulevard with her husband Nate and their three young daughters. She is a stay at home mother who also serves as the Small Group and Discipleship Director at the Zanesville Neighborhood Church. She grew up in New Concord and is a 2003 graduate of John Glenn High School. Public service and giving back to ones’ community were values that were instilled in her from a young age.
As a member of the New Concord Village Council Ms. Kearns wants to work on policy that will ensure New Concord remains a good place to live, raise a family and enjoy retirement. She is very focused on the vital relationships that community partners play in the success of the Village and would like to keep those bonds strong and healthy. Ms. Kearns would also like to gain more knowledge on Village Infrastructure and work toward meeting needs for upgrades and improvements to better serve the residents and businesses of New Concord. Her first Council meeting will be February 11, 2019 and she will serve the remainder of the vacated term which ends on December 31, 2021.
