Mission of the Fire Department

The mission of the New Concord Fire Department is the protection, preservation and well-being of the health, safety and property of all persons residing, working or otherwise within the coverage area. We will accomplish this mission through Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Response, Fire Prevention and Education. We wil maintain a high standard of training and education, act and perform in a safe manner, be courteous to all, and treat everyone in a professional manner. We will strive to create a strong bond with the community and interact professionally with other area departments. As members of this department, we have chosen to be part of a team that takes pride in representing this mission through dedication and integrity.

Fire Chief and Staffing

The Fire Chief is Matthew Hamsher. Chief Hamsher has served the Village since 2021.

The first full year for the Fire Department to operate as a paid 24/7 department was 2014. The department continues to evaluate the conversion from volunteer to paid staff in an effort to monitor costs, budget for future capital expenses, and improve services provided to the community. The department will continue to focus on all aspects of departmental training, preventative pre-planning, and emergency response efforts.
