Friends of New Concord to Host 2nd Annual Community Day
Friends of New Concord (FONC) is hosting the 2nd annual New Concord Community Day on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The community is invited to a full day of events and activities for the entire family. All events throughout the day include free admission, and there is no cost to participate in any of the games or activities.
The day starts with a Muskie Fun Run, a 1-mile run beginning at New Concord Elementary School. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. at the school, and the run begins at 9 a.m.
The Vendors’ Village is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where more than 25 artisans will be selling a variety of locally made products from jewelry, clothing, soaps and home décor to nuts, home-baked cookies and more. Artisans will be set up in the Genesis Primary Care parking lot.
There also will be a Kids’ Corner from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a variety of activities for kids including a coloring station, sidewalk chalk, and yard games. The following activities are scheduled throughout the day:

From Noon-2 p.m. New Concord businesses with goods or services that would benefit students are opening their doors to Muskingum University students. This is an opportunity for University students to get to know the Village, and for the businesses to introduce themselves to students.
A Party in the Park runs from 4-10 p.m. at New Concord War Memorial Park. The event will have live music from Fly Ohio and Spelchek bands. There also will be a rock-climbing wall, axe throwing, dunk tank, corn hole tournaments and other yard games as well as a bonfire to cap off the evening.
For adults with a valid ID, the Guernsey Brewhouse will be selling beer in a designated beer garden. The following food trucks will be selling dinner and dessert items: Bobst Keytle Corn, Don Polo Taco Truck, Hot Dog Diggity, Kent’s Kones, Smoke Therapy Craft BBQ, and The Chocolate Tap. The Cub Scouts also will be selling water and soda.
