The Village of New Concord is pleased to welcome David Briggs as our new Chief of Police. Chief Briggs brings more than 23 years of law enforcement experience and a proven record of leadership, public service, and community engagement. Most recently, he served as Chief of Police for a township in the Columbus, Ohio, area. His career has also included law enforcement service in Perry County, Zanesville, Coshocton, South Zanesville, and several other communities throughout east-central Ohio, giving him a strong understanding of the region and the people it serves. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to building strong relationships with the communities he serves while fostering professionalism, accountability, and teamwork within his department.
Chief Briggs’ extensive background includes service as a detective, patrol supervisor, K-9 handler, and deputy sheriff, with experience in criminal investigations, crime scene management, narcotics enforcement, emergency response, and officer training. A graduate of the NCPI Police Executive and Administrative Leadership School, he has also earned numerous professional certifications and statewide commendations for leadership, lifesaving actions, and excellence in law enforcement.
We are excited to welcome Chief Briggs to New Concord and look forward to the experience, integrity, and community-focused leadership he will bring to our Police Department as we continue working together to keep our village a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.
